Is it ok to drink green tea right before go to bed?

Green tea benefit before go to bed

          Green tea is also powerful. The Chinese have been drinking green tea for more than 2,000 year. But until A.D. 600, green tea was used mainly as a medicinal tonic, not an everyday beverage.

          Like any other herbal medicine, green tea's healing power has to be carefully harnessed. There are times when we should avoid drinking green tea.

          Read through the ten situations below to see if they apply to you. Exercise caution if it does.

Green tea side effects #1

When you suspect that you have too much caffeine.

Caffeine intolerance is the most common cause of green tea side effects.

Green tea contains about half the amount of caffeine found in coffee, so moderate consumption of green tea is unlikely to cause problems for the majority of people.

For those who are sensitive to caffeine, here are symptoms to watch out for:

* restlessness

* irritability

* sleeping problems

* tremor

* heart palpitations

* loss of appetite

* upset stomach
* nausea

* frequent urination

* skin rash

           How much can you safely drink? How to enjoy green tea without the caffeine? How about decaffeinated green tea?

Green tea side effects #2

When you have a sensitive stomach.

           Stomach upset is the second most common complaint I hear from tea drinkers, after caffeine.

           Caffeine can cause stomach upset. Tea also contains other compounds that cause indigestion by stimulating the production of gastric acid.

Green tea side effects #3

When you suffer from, or is susceptible to, iron deficiency anemia.

Green tea reduces the amount of non-heme iron we absorb, but there are ways round it.

Green tea side effects #4

When you have green tea extract tablets.

green tea side effectsTwo studies suggest that green tea extract may be harmful when consumed in large quantity or with other weight loss herbs.

How many tablets can you safely consume without suffering from side effects? There is no clear cut answer, but some guidelines do exist.

Green tea side effects #5

When you are pregnant or are breastfeeding.

Green tea contains caffeine, catechins and tannic acids. All three substances have been linked to pregnancy risks.

Studies suggest that drinking large amount of green tea can cause neural tube birth defect in babies. High consumption of caffeine and tannic acid have been linked to fertility problems and miscarriage risk.

Moderate consumption of green tea is still considered safe, but...

Green tea side effects #6

When you are trying to conceive.

This is an area where further studies are needed. Two small scale studies suggest that green tea may help woman conceive baby. The evidence, though positive, is unsatisfactory.

Green tea side effects #7

When you are undergoing menopause

In preliminary research, green tea has been associated with decreased level of estrogens in the body. It is not clear if significant green tea side effects such as hot flushes may occur. Exercise caution if this is a concern to you.

Nevertheless, a 2003 study suggests that green tea, when taken with other herbs, may alleviate postmenopausal symptoms.

Green tea side effects #8

When you have or are prone to forming kidney stones.

Kidney stones are mineral deposits made up of calcium, uric acid or the amino acid cysteine. At least three quarters of kidney stones are composed of calcium combined with phosphate or oxalic acid. Green tea is a concern because it is rich in oxalic acid.

Recent studies seem to indicate that green tea actually inhibits the formation of urinary stones...

Green tea side effects #9

When you have young children.

Green tea contains caffeine, which may cause anemia and other problems in children. It also contains tannin that inhibits the absorption of protein.

Some experts say green tea is good for children because it prevents tooth decay. That is true, but if you have kids under three, do not let them drink green tea, or any other tea and coffee beverages.

Green tea side effects #10

When you are on medication or have a medical history.

Green tea, like any other tea beverages, can interfere and interact with certain medications. But there are precautions you can take.

Can you loose weight by drinking green tea?

Can you loose weight by drinking green tea?

           It was probably cutting the soda more than the green tea that did it. Correlation does not imply causality.  (What that means can be explained best in a scenario: Basically, I have a quarter in my pocket right now. No dogs are attacking me, so I can say that having a quarter in your pocket prevents dogs from attacking you. Just because two things are occuring at the same time does not mean they are related).
         Green tea can work as an appetite suppressant and has compounds that can help joint pain. It's overall health benefit is not disputed, but it is not a miracle drug for weight loss.

         Green tea can help you loose weight, but it will not do the trick on itself. Green tea speeds up your metabolism. So, if you want to loose weight, eat healthy and exercise. The green tea will speed up your metabolism, the exercise will burn calories and create muscle, and eating healthy speaks for itself.

Green tea soda

         Replacing soda with anything (water, green tea) is great for you. Soda is incredibly bad for your body, no matter what kind it is. Green tea isn't the best for weight loss, but it has antioxidants in it, which fight free radicals and promote your health.

How can green tea benefit all of us?

green tea benefit all of us

           For centuries, the Chinese have been drinking it and based on what I have read, it is the second most popular drink after water. Isn't this amazing. Green tea is made from the Camellia Sinensis plant and it is not fermented, which means that the powerful antioxidant properties are completely intact.
           Green tea is particular rich in catechin, of which epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) is the most abundant. EGCG is a powerful anti-oxidant. It stops the growth of tumors and it kills cancer cells without harming healthy tissue.  Let me highlight a few points:

Help in weight loss

          A study conducted at the University of Geneva in Switzerland, green tea seems to help the body burn more calories. It can also slow down the release of carbohydrate in the body and prevent increase in blood sugar.   I know a friend who lost 5 to 10 pounds after drinking moderate amount of green tea daily with no other changes in diet.

Increase the immune system

         Green tea lowers the risk of cancer.
Published in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute in 1994, the results of an epidemiological study showing that drinking green tea lowered the risk of esophageal cancer in Chinese men and women by nearly 60%. University of Purdue researchers also found out that a compound in green tea stops the growth of cancer cells.
          A study by the University of Kansas in September 1997 has reported that green tea contains the highest amount of any known antioxidant. EGCG is 100 times more effective than Vitamin C, and twice as powerful as resveratrol.

Prevent illness

         Many tests have proven that green tea can help neutralize germs that cause diarrhea, pneumonia, and skin infections. New research by Milton Schiffenbauer of Pace University finds that Green Tea deactivates viruses. Recent research at Harvard shows that tea chemicals stimulated T-cells that bolster immunity against bacteria and viruses.
         Believe it or not, green tea can benefit your child too. It can kill the bacteria that causes plaque. And does your child avoid his green vegetables? Well, a cup of Green Tea has more antioxidant ability than a cup of broccoli or spinach!
         There are tons of benefits when it comes to green tea and trust me, the benefits will start once you drink it. I have tried a few brands of green tea, some are made in China while some are from Japan. Personally I would recommend the Japanese green tea as the tea is closer to the nature. And if you don't mind, you can also try Perk Beverages- Green Tea Benefit

Is drinking a cup of green tea the same as drinking water?

Green Tea the same as drinking water
No. We can get water from foods and other drinks except any that have caffeine or alcohol in them. These actually dehydrate us and do not count towards water intake. In fact extra water must be consumed to offset the dehydrating effects of the caffeine and alcohol. The 6 - 8 glasses is outdated and inaccurate. The body actually uses at least 8 glasses of water. For proper health and hydration we need 1 ounce for every 2 pounds of body weight plus 8 more ounces for every 20 minutes of exercise/activity we do. With hot/dry days and climates even more is needed.
first of all, the 6-8 glasses a day of water is a myth. no one can prove that to be true. And green tea contains substances that help your body, like antioxidants, egcg, and theanine. water only hydrates your body which is good too, but tea does that also

Green Tea Weight Loss

Green Tea Weight Loss

        If you want to lose weight, at least you're going about it in a healthy way. I'm just telling you, if you drop to a really low weight (depending on how tall you are, I was 5'2) you might look sickly and worse, and not to mention you'll be a lot weaker and more unhealthy.

       That being said, green tea is proven to burn fat, not to mention it's full of antioxidants and other things that benefit your health. So yes, if you drink a lot of it, you'll probably lose weight if you excercise moderately and change your diet..

         Also look it up if you want -- it's actually more healthy and more effective to lose weight if instead of eating 3 main meals a day, you eat 5 to 6 small ones. Eating more frequently in smaller portions is MUCH better, it revs your metabolism and makes it a lot faster (which is what burns calories) and when you consume less food at one time, it's easier on your digestive system. You'll lose weight faster if you eat, for example, toast for breakfast, then and hour or two later eat a granola bar for "brunch" than something small for lunch two hours later, then a healthy snack in the afternoon (carrots or an apple are great) and then you try to eat a smaller dinner. Also, eating more frequently keeps you full and you won't be as tempted to eat junk food!

        You will not go into starvation mode, eating healthier with a few small snacks during the day will make you feel much BETTER and more full throughout the day. The first few days you'll probably want to give in and still crave sugar, but just stick it out and by the end of the week you'll feel much much healthier.
